PSYCHIC SLEEP
Yoga nidra, which means “psychic sleep,” is an ancient practice that can be highly restorative—a single session (between 20 and 40 minutes) is said to be equivalent to hours of sleep. You aren’t actually sleeping during a session, but you’re meant to get close—to be talked down to the moment when your body is still enough to sleep and yet your mind is still awake. The goal is to quiet the conscious mind in order to tap into the potential of the subconscious. The overall effect is deeply relaxing.

And although you can do a session at any time, it’s an ideal right-before-bedtime ritual—particularly if you struggle with a restless body while attempting to fall asleep.
